Beautiful Lies - Jessica Warman

What the heck did I just read?  I feel like I've just come out of a house of mirrors and I'm no longer sure what's real and what's not.  As I was reading this book I found myself saying "What the hell is going on?!" over and over again.  And I mean that in the best way.

The book revolves around twins Alice and Rachel who have a bond that manifests physically - when one is injured or in danger the other feels it.  So when one twin disappears, the other knows that she is hurt and in trouble and must convince everyone that she hasn't just run off.  Our narrator - who I won't name because I don't want to give anything away - is the definition of an unreliable narrator.  Pretty early on in the book I wondered how much of what we are told is truth and how much is...  not.  Just when I thought I had things figured out something else would be revealed that would make me question everything.

This is not an action packed book - it's thrills are definitely more psychological than physical - but I enjoyed the pace and enjoyed being led along through the uncertainty.  I had no idea where things were going to end up and I enjoyed the ride.  I can't wait to read more from  Ms. Warman.
